When travelling home from the beach after Easter weekend, I realized that, while on vacation, I am the mom that I want to be to my children. I am patient, present, and say "yes"—not "in just a minute"—when they ask to play, read, or whatever. Part of me was sad at this realization because I knew that, much of the time, I wasn't achieving balance when at home. Another part of me was thankful for the wake up call, and I have pushed the reset button once again in the constant effort to live my vocation fully and more important, joyfully!
When sharing with one of my favorite friends about how pleased I was about our time at the beach and how I needed to carry that feeling over to every day life, her answer— you need a beach house! And that exclamation is precisely why I love her. She always makes me smile!

Miles was jumping in the waves last year on this trip, but Ander was all over it this time.
He was so cute bracing himself every time a wave would crest near him.

Aniston and Miles both enjoyed being buried in the sand, but Genevieve wanted to do it "myself"—just the way she likes to do most things right now.

Genevieve took a break from going it alone when it came time to hunt eggs. See, her basket started to get too heavy, so she employed one of her older cousins as her Easter basket caddie.

Remember how last week I told you about my friend and the nationwide contest she entered? She is in the top 5!!! I am so happy for her. She started her business in her home and has grown into a storefront! You can read more about her personal story here. If you support small business and have a moment, please head on over here and vote for her. Thank you so much. I know she appreciates it! So much so, if you vote and share the image below on facebook and leave her a comment, she will enter you for a chance to win a $100 gift certificate to her store.

I really think it is in realizing and adjusting (or resetting) that makes the difference. We are all human and have so much competing for our attention that it is easy to get out of whack every once in a while...it's when we don't reset that problems set it. Your kids have an awesome momma who can self reflect and do something about it!
